H2H FUNDRAISER

On Friday,April 18,2008 at 6 P.M.,American Legion Post 434 in Chula Vista,Ca. will hold a Fundraising "Thanksgiving" Style Dinner to raise funds for the Heroes to Hometowns Project, for which the Amercan Legion signed an M.O.U. with the Dept. of Defense to organize the outreach for our Wounded Warriors in the Global War on Terror. We are definately making a significant difference in their lives, many of us as volunteers. Since this program began here in San Diego in late May of 2006,we have assisted approximatly 200 wounded and their families. But we are not limited only to the area of San Diego .We have reached out to those in need all across the U.S.,no limits are set in stone. One of our first Heroes was soon to be the father of TRIPLETS!!,they are now 18 months old. I spoke to him recently, and they are doing well, living in another state now. Economical reasons,I would guess!!!! We have a successful project going on right now, with the assistance from the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund,in Youngstown,Ohio. If we are aware of a need,we do what we can to help. As a former Service Officer at A.Legion Post 255,I do not set limits on what era our veterans and family members come from. We have assisted those in any age group, for instance, the 92 year old widow of a retired Navy Chief that needed assisted with transportation to her appointments, crocery shopping, etc.,after her husband passed. The former Commander of VFW Post 11387,Paradise Hills,Ca.,has offered his help, and he has been there for us many times before. Thank you Tom G. This Post has assisted us in many ways,so hats of to them!!! SEMPER FI is alive and well!!! OOOHHHRRRAAA
