H2H California.,a New Beginning!!

It will be 2 years June 1,2008 that I stood-up H2H San Diego. I was very surprised with what I was able to do in a short period of time. There was no budget set for this H2H San Diego Project, I decided it was a very worthy cause,so I committed my own funds to make it work. Today,we are a non-profit/small business, with a little money in the bank to help our Wounded Warriors, our Country's Heroes. I now have a partner in California,Ms. Carolann Wundelin,Commander,A.Legion Adm. Moffett Post 881,and Co-chair/Co-Community Champion,H2H California. Carolann has the drive and committment, and expertise to help make lives better for our Heroes. Welcome aboard Commander!! Things are lookin' up!!!

Carolann,

I'm "DOC SHORES" and I'm the newest addition to h2h California style. I one of them and I'm a recipient of the services of both VA Wilshire and VA Long Beach. It's a long story on how Sunny found me. I can tell you only that I put a SOS out on the VFW website trying to reach out to anyone that could be my support and they sent me Sunny. When Sunny called I was at my lowest point, overwhelmed emotionally by what was happening to me, and physically by the amount surgeries I've had and the possibilities of; more importantly, Sunny called me one day and said these words "I'm not letting go!" I cried for the first couple of hours and he calmed me down and started to just listen and allowed me to vent on him. After I calmed down and he was able to get a word in edge wise. Sunny he arranged a time for me to meet with him, drove all the way up from San Diego, and understood what I was going through. I had alot of anxiety that I was going through because I am a single parent and I needed someone to ensure that my daughter would get back to her father in the event my surgery went bad. I knew that my parents weren't able to handle stressful situations and I needed for someone that was impartial and act as go between to hold her until her father came to get her. Luckily, that part of my medical problems I didn't have to deal with; nevertheless, Sunny has been there to ensure that I am treated well at both hospitals and that my daughter knows that her Mom is coming home. See, even when they're home, it's difficult for kids to understand that when their only parent goes into the hospital that they're coming back out. So, Sunny and Sandy have become my newest Veteran family and I'm ever so grateful to have them on my side. I know now that they came to be because I asked God to send me my platoon and God always watches out for his Soldiers....that's why their is H2HSD.COM

RESPECTFULLY,

DOC SHORES

Sunny I'm Back!!!

Hey Yall!!Doc is here to stay. I'm not going anywhere. Yes, I've been recovery for the past three months and it hasn't been easy. At first, it hurt so bad that I dreaded going to physical therapy. It was like teaching a baby to walk all over again. After awhile, it hurt so good. Then I got cauky and I fell causing my rehab to be setback even more; however, I'm still pushing through. I remember what "TOP" use to say "Shores if your not HURTING, Your NOT ALIVE!" Sometimes I find myself haunted by looking at the wheelchair amputees that sit out infront of the VA Hospitals that I've been too. When I see them, I'm reminded that I could have been like that. I'm reminded of how lucky I am to not be "HUMBLED" by those that can stand. This has been an experience I will never forget. I want to again, "Thank" the service organizations that have been there for me, "Soldiers Angels, Heroes to Hometown, and Patriot Guard Riders".
